Dr Patricia Neumann

Trish is a Specialist Continence & Women’s Health Physiotherapist who has many years’ experience helping people with a wide range of pelvic floor problems, such as incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. She has a particular interest in chronic pelvic pain and has worked in a multidisciplinary pain team for the last five years. Pelvic pain may be associated with tight pelvic floor muscles, overtraining the ‘core’ and with conditions such as endometriosis, vulvodynia, interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome, vaginismus, ‘chronic prostatitis’ and pudendal neuralgia.

Trish will take time to listen and understand the whole story of the person with their pain. She will identify and help with sensitised nerves and tight muscles inside and outside the pelvis. She assists with understanding the complexity of chronic pelvic pain, with restoring balance in posture and movement, and with getting back into life. She is experienced in working with other members of the healthcare team to achieve the best outcomes for her patients.

Training and Experience

Trish has a PhD from the University of South Australia where she is involved in research and teaching about pelvic floor conditions and pelvic pain. She has lectured nationally and presented at international conferences.Trish has worked in a multidisciplinary pain team in Adelaide for the last five years and has pioneered a multidisciplinary pain service for men with chronic pelvic pain. She has developed education programs for couples to understand the science behind pelvic pain and produced relaxation resources to help in the management of pelvic pain.

She currently consults at Flex Rehabilitation Clinic, Norwood, South Australia. Appointments can be made by calling Flex Rehabilitation Clinic on 08 8361 3355. No doctor’s referral is necessary, except with a GP management plan. Private Health funds with Extras cover or a GP Management Plan will provide a rebate to cover part of the cost of physiotherapy. The first appointment with Trish is an hour and follow up appointments are usually 30 minutes.
